Wild 2, Oilers 1 (SO): Dany Heatley goal with 1.2 seconds left gives Wild new life

RECAP: Dany Heatley's tying goal with 1.2 seconds left in the third period forced overtime, and the Wild rallied to beat Edmonton in a shootout on Thursday night at Rexall Place. The Oilers led 1-0 when Ryan Jones tapped in a goal-mouth pass from Ryan Smyth at the 16:06 mark after a Wild turnover. It stayed that way until the Wild pulled goalie Nik Backstrom for an extra attacker and Heatley scored to tie it. Matt Cullen scored the only goal of the shootout. MEANING: Minnesota came into this game having lost four of its past five games and in need of points to hold on to the seventh spot in the West.
