An MRI given to Minnesota Wild goaltender Josh Harding (lower body) on Sunday came back normal. Harding will be reevaluated and if he believes he can handle pain, the hope is he will meet the team to back up Niklas Backstrom on Monday against the St. Louis Blues at Scottrade Center. The Minneapolis Star Tribune reports that Harding apparently had leg spasms and that is sounds like he'll be day-to-day. Harding missed his scheduled start Saturday against the Winnipeg Jets when he was hurt during warm-ups. Backstrom, just activated from injured reserve, started in Harding's place in his first game since Nov. 13.

The Minnesota Wild announced a roster move Monday, recallingforward Mike Rupp from the Iowa Wild and placing forward Torrey Mitchell oninjured reserve.Rupp hasn't played for Minnesota yet this year due to alower body injury. He spent five games with Iowa of the AHL on a rehabassignment. In his first year with the Wild last season, the 33-year-old Ruppscored one goal and had three...

Backstrom, Ballard practice but not expected to play for Wild in Winnipeg

Neither Niklas Backstrom nor Keith Ballard cared to waste any energy on frustration or self-pity. Backstrom, the Wild goalie, was inching his way through the uncertain aftermath of a concussion after taking a nasty hit earlier this month. Ballard, who has been sidelined for all but nine games this season, was eager to recover from an upper-body injury and resume his place among the...

Backstrom steps up in Wild shootout victory at Winnipeg

Niklas Backstrom had never had a concussion before, but the Wild goalie knew enough about head injuries to take nothing for granted. After practicing with his team Friday for the first time in 10 days, Backstrom said he felt good, but he couldn’t predict what the next day might bring. It’s doubtful that anyone could have envisioned the strange scenario that unfolded at MTS Centre...

Granlund will miss second straight, Rupp to make Wild season debut vs. Blues

The Minnesota Wild will be shuffling the deck a bit for tonight’s big tilt against St. Louis. Mikael Granlund (upper body) will miss his second straight contest, allowing veteran forward Mike Rupp to play his first game of the year, according to the Star-Tribune. What’s more, young defenseman Mathew Dumba will sit for the first time in three games and be replaced by Nate Prosser...

Amazing save by Josh Harding: Avoidance of the subject

You should never get to high or too low. Josh Harding is a perfect example of this. Last year, Harding was diagnosed with M.S. and ended up missing most of the season. He came back and played in the Stanley Cup Playoffs against the Chicago Blackhawks.  Now, this year, he's the Minnesota Wild starter. I don't think it's a stretch to say that Harding could be an All-Star...

Tony Dean: MNWild:The Calm Before the Letdown?

MNWild: The Calm Before the Letdown? I just have to be honest in addressing what I can sense from the State of Hockey fans and it maybe is most accurately described as anxiety mixed with bracing for impending letdown. The Minnesota Wild have met and exceeded my personal expectation during the first two months of this NHL season for whatever that is worth. I think the Wild has...
