John Kreiser of NHL.com lists one player from each Eastern Conference team in a column titled "Who's On The Hot Seat In The Eastern Conference".

Jimmy Howard, Detroit Red Wings -- Detroit's four Stanley Cups from 1997-2008 were won without relying on a goaltender to stand on his head; the Red Wings' puck-possession game and deep roster were the keys to victory. But times have changed, and management has made a major financial commitment to Howard, who's the unquestioned starter and key to Detroit's success. He was among the NHL's best last season with a 2.13 goals-against average and a save percentage of .923, then helped Detroit upset the Anaheim Ducks and nearly do the same to the Chicago Blackhawks in the playoffs. He has to play to that level again for the Red Wings to get back to the postseason.

BEST OF MAXIM
The Detroit Red Wings have been one, if not the best, NHL team for the past 20 years. But will that continue with the Wings moving east and some of its main core of players 30 and above in age? I would say yes for a couple of reasons, in my opinion the move to the eastern conference will help the Wings Tremendously. In a lockout shortened season the Wings finished with 56 points...
DETROIT -- Just when it appears youre on the road to recovery, you suffer yet another setback, which further delays your return to the ice.

It is almost kind of comical the...

The Malik Report has reaction to the signing and hockey fans voice their opinion at HFBoards.
My reaction? Cleary has been a warrior for the Red Wings but injuries over the last few years were an issue for him...

The Red Wings will depart for Traverse City this morning--with half of the NHL roster taking part in a community outreach tour throughout the State of Michigan, and the rest either busing or flying up--and the team will take its physicals (and deal with their "mugshots") and participate in a charity golf tournament on Wednesday, with the main camp opening up on Thursday...

WIth none other than Gordie Howe in attendance, the Detroit Red Wings defeated the Buffalo Sabres 4-2 on the strength of 2 goals and an assist by Anthony Mantha, a pair of assists from Xavier Ouellet, a snipe from Zach Nastasiuk, an empty-netter from Tomas Jurco and a superb performance from Jared Coreau, who stopped 23 of 25 shots against.

The differences between the Red Wings prospects' 4-1 win over the St. Louis Blues' prospects and a game between the teams' NHL rosters involved the names on the backs of the jerseys and the venue.
Otherwise, if you've seen a game between Ken Hitchcock's Blues and Mike Babcock's Red Wings, you've seen this one. There were 27 penalties, remarkably, only...

from Bill Roose of the Wings' website,
The Red Wings had holes to fill in their power play last season. Coming off a year when the special teams unit finished in the bottom third in the league, some of the responsibility to turn things around fell upon assistant coach Tom Renney.
Detroit ended up in the middle of the pack last season. The power play was 18.4 percent...
