BRANDON MASHINTER RUMORS

Victim of numbers game, Mashinter sent down to Hartford

With Rick Nash’s imminent return to the Rangers line-up the team today sent Brandon Mashinter back to the Hartford WolfPack in the AHL. Mashinter appears a classic tweener, a very solid AHL’er with some NHL ability but whether with the Sharks or the Rangers, the physical winger hasn’t been able to establish himself in the NHL thus far. Having appeared in six games for the Rangers...

Zuccarello a healthy scratch, Mashinter will play tonight

Per Andrew Gross, Mats Zuccarello will be a healthy scratch tonight in Philly. Brandon Mashinter will play on the fourth line with Dominic Moore and Derek Dorsett. AV noted (per Gross) that Zucc being a scratch is performance based, and not a case of wanting a tougher presence in the lineup against the Flyers. Tweet

Rangers re-sign Brandon Mashinter

Per Capgeek, the Rangers have re-signed RFA forward Brandon Mashinter to a one-year deal worth $605k. The contract is a two-way contract, with Mashinter’s AHL salary at $75k. Mashinter played four games with the Rangers last season, going scoreless in those four contests with a -2 rating. With the Whale, Mashinter played 35 games, putting up a line of 10-9-19 with 52 PIMs. The...

Mashinter Watch: Pounds an IceCap

While Brandon Mashinter was held scoreless during the CT Whale's 7-3 win vs. the St. John's Ice Caps, he did stand-up for teammate Blake Partlett and absolutely worked Spencer Machacek (0:05 mark)... Mashinter now has 3g, 5a and three fights in 11 games since joining the Whale. ...got to love Mashinter stepping in for Parlett who is not known as a fighter....

Mashinter Watch: Not a Good Return to Whale

After seeing no NHL game action in the less than 24 hours he was recalled by the Rangers, Brandon Mashinter returned to the Whale Tuesday night with a thud. Mashinter was held scoreless including being stopped on a shootout attempt during the Whale's 4-3 shootout loss to Albany. Mashinter was also a -2 and only register one shot on goal. He now has 3g, 4a and is a -2...

Mashinter returned to Whale

In a bit of a surprising move, the Rangers have returned forward Brandon Mashinter to the Whale, per Dan Rosen. It’s surprising because Mashinter was just recalled yesterday. Guess that means the “Stu Bickel as a forward” experiment is still ongoing for tonight’s game at least. Unless of course Chris Kreider is good to go. Tweet

Mashinter Watch: Scores In Whale Loss Last Night

Yesterday, I posted about how the newly acquired CT Whale player Brandon Mashinter could be someone who sparks this Rangers team. While they obviously didn't need him last night, the fact that John Tortorella doesn't feel comfortable giving Mike Rupp (4:28) or Stu Bickel (3:27) more than five minutes of ice time, means there's still a need for a fourth line energy guy...

Does Mashinter Deserve a Call-up?

Since the Rangers obtained Brandon Mashinter from the San Jose Sharks in exchange for Tommy Grant, he has done nothing but impress for the CT Whale. The 6' 4" Mashinter has 2g, 4a in his seven games with the Whale and has been more than willing to drop the gloves when necessary, as seen here in last night's 5-4, OT loss to Bridgeport (2:15 mark)... Here...

Mashinter re-signs with Sharks, NHL CBA negotiations proceed

Per Renaud P. Lavoie, Brandon Mashinter has re-signed with the Sharks.  That’s a good thing since David Pollak had him penciled in among the three maybes for the fourth line.  The two-way contract is for one year at $550,000.  Also on that theoretical line is John McCarthy.  I’m very happy about that. Captain’s Practice at Sharks Ice officially started Monday.  Thomas...
