John Jaeckel: Hogs Go Wild + CHL Prospects
Follow me @jaeckel
Down 2-0 after the first period in Charlotte last night, the Rockford Ice Hogs exploded for five goals the rest of the way to a 5-2 victory.
Although still a bit of a Chinese Fire Drill in their own end, the Hogs were bailed out by goalie Carter Hutton who made at least two highlight reel savesâone with the glove and the other the left pad.
And...
John Jaeckel: Rockford Wins 3 Straight/Danault/Lockout
Follow me @jaeckel
After an inauspicious 0-3 start, the Rockford Ice Hogs have won 3 straight games, capped last night by a 6-5 overtime win on the road against the Red Wings' AHL team, the Grand Rapids Griffins.
The Hogs are getting balanced contributions and playing well, largely in front of goaltender Carter Hutton.
While no longer leading the QMJHL, Hawk 2011 first...
John Jaeckel: Hogs 0-3/Prospects/Lockout

Coming off a 2-1 road loss to the Peoria Rivermen, the Ice Hogs take on the Charlotte Checkers in the first of back to back games tonight in Rockford.
Peter Leblanc got the lone goal for the Hogs, in front of some solid goaltending by Carter Hutton. Thus far this season, the issue for Rockford has been scoring goals, while their goaltending has been outstanding...
John Jaeckel: Rockford 0-2; NCAA/USHL Prospects
Follow me @jaeckel
Coming off a pretty strong 2-1 preseason, the Rockford Ice Hogs fell flat out of the gate on the regular season, dropping both ends of back-to-back road games with the Chicago Wolves (Vancouver).
Carter Hutton kept the Hogs in the opener, which went scoreless until the shootout, where the Hogs dropped the extra point. Then in Sunday's follow-up, Rockford...
Bollig, Smith & Hutton Sign
Hutton, 26, is expected to start for the Rockford IceHogs next year after putting together a spectacular 22-13-4 run last season with a .917 SV% along with a 2.35 GAA.
Smith, 23, had his season cut short due to a devastating right hip labral tear and sports hernia. He had surgery on March 15th and his timetable to return is approximately 16 weeks of recovery. In 19 career regular...

Goalie Hutton Recalled
Back on March 6, I wrote a blog called “Goalie Of The Future?” . It was in reference to the Rockford Ice Hogs (AHL affiliate) goaltender Carter Hutton. A couple of games ago—March 16th, against Dallas, Hutton was brought up as the back up to Crawford. Ray Emery was listed as “under the weather”.
I didn’t buy it then (refer to that recap) and I don’t buy it now. I...

Goaltender of the Future?
I’ve been following the reports of this kid since he joined the Ice Hogs. It’s funny how Alexander Salak has gone from originally being slated as Crawford’s back up with the Hawks, to Hutton’s back up in Rockford. Here’s the story from chicagoblackhawks.com;
The American Hockey League announced on Monday that Rockford IceHogs goaltender Carter Hutton has been named the...
