Canadiens Extend Desharnais
MONTREAL – Montreal Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin announced Friday a four-year contract extension for forward David Desharnais (2013-14 to 2016-17). As per club policy, financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
“David Desharnais is a talented young player and his contribution is essential to the success of our team. David has shown perseverance and determination...
Davey signs for four
I'm on the road today, so can't write much, but I will say this: David Desharnais for four years at $4 million per is a good deal. The lack of a no trade clause makes it a great one. This rewards a key piece of the Habs offence, while giving them the flexibility to deal the contract, if need be, down the road.
Good move, M. Bergevin. The interesting question now is who...
Montreal scores twice in final period
David Desharnais and the Montreal Canadiens saw an opening when Zdeno Chara went to the penalty box, and they certainly made the most of it.
Max Pacioretty scored the tying goal in the third period and Desharnais put Montreal ahead to stay, leading the Canadiens to a 4-3 comeback win over the Boston Bruins on Sunday in a matchup of the Eastern Conference's top teams.
Both goals...

Max Pacioretty or was it David Desharnais' goal against Boston
Boston Bruins versus the Montreal Canadians... At first it appeared that the puck had gone off of Max Pacioretty's stick, but after further review it was obvious that it went off of Johnny Boychuk's stick.
Montreal goal listed as to Max Pacioretty, but thatll be changed to David Desharnais off Johnny Boychuk's stick en route to net. Habs up 2-1

Habs tie it late, lose 3-2 to Sabres
Good thing David Desharnais played Monday night, because if it wasn’t for him, the Habs wouldn’t have been in this game. The usual storyline: Habs take lead, Habs blow lead, except in this one, they tied it with 3 seconds left, and then lost in overtime.
I won’t even get into the game: what’s with the celebrating? One thing I always appreciated about Saku Koivu was his class...

The Canadiens' unexpected hidden gem: David Desharnais
Despite being a dominant player at every level, David Desharnais has had to repeatedly prove himself because of his small 5-feet-6, 175 pound frame.
It takes a special athlete to overcome the ingrained size discrimination that exists in today’s NHL, one who must combine quickness, intelligence, athleticism, skill, courage and, most importantly, determination.
After being...
