DEREK DORSETT RUMORS

Video: Derek Dorsett takes exception to late hit, crowd pump from Chris Neil

Before Saturday night’s game between the Vancouver Canucks and Ottawa Senators got interesting on the scoreboard, it got interesting on the ice. Chris Neil laid a big hit on Derek Dorsett, the required fight happened, and then Neil got in one final swing on Dorsett before skating off, waiving his arms to pump up the crowd. Dorsett didn’t appreciate this at all, and went after...

Derek Dorsett skated with the Columbus Blue Jackets between 2008-09 and 2012-13. Now with the Vancouver Canucks, Dorsett decided to return to his old bench after missing on a check.

Rangers trade Dorsett to Canucks for a pick

The Rangers have traded Derek Dorsett to the Canucks in exchange for a third round pick (85th overall) in the 2014 draft. I speculated earlier that Dorsett may be traded in favor of Dan Carcillo or a cheaper alternative for the fourth line as a means to open up some cap space. A third round pick for a fourth line face puncher isn’t a bad return for the Rangers.

Derek Dorsett Snows Small Child During Canadiens’ Pregame Ceremony

Derek Dorsett didn’t really come off a high character guy during Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals in Montreal. Not only did the Rangers forward headbutt Mike Weaver during the Canadiens’ victory, he also snowed of the Habs’ young flag bearers prior to the game. Trying to get under an opponent’s skin and gain an edge in the series is one thing, but this isn’t that...

Quick lineup change: Dorsett in for Carcillo

Per Pat Leonard, Derek Dorsett will be taking Dan Carcillo’s spot in the lineup tonight against Carolina. Dorsett’s last game was March 5th against Toronto. This move might make some people angry considering Carcillo’s strong play with the Rangers, but Dorsett is the more balanced player. His ability to take shifts in the defensive zone late in the game –not to mention his...

Rangers' Derek Dorsett scratched after one game back from broken leg

Derek Dorsett's triumphant return from a broke fibula lasted all of one game - well, make that 8:42 plus two minutes in the clink. No, he didn't re-injure the leg in his first game back against the Philadelphia Flyers, he's just been on the shelf for so long that he needs more practice time to get in sync with his linemates - but his two minutes for high-sticking that cost his...

In injury news, Derek Dorsett is skating in a non-contact jersey, and hopes to be ready when the season resumes next week. Also, per Steve Zipay, the Rangers –who practiced yesterday– will have practice today, tomorrow, and Monday through Wednesday. The Olympians will rejoin the team on Wednesday...

A New York Rangers Fan Guide: Can I root for Carcillo?

When the New York Rangers acquired Dan Carcillo early in January, there was a minor revolt within the team’s fanbase. Carcillo, thanks to three years of douchebaggery on the Flyers from 2008 to 2011, had become one of those players you have to hate to call yourself a Rangers fan. To see the team then go out and trade for the guy felt like inviting Denis Potvin to Christmas dinner...

Rangers' Derek Dorsett breaks leg; out four to six weeks

New York Rangers agitator Derek Dorsett won't be agitating anyone but nurses and rehab assistants for the next four to six weeks, a broken fibula felling the pesky right winger.Dorsett attempted to block a Olli Maatta shot in the first period of the Rangers' loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday night, taking the puck on the shin - but true to his nature and reminiscent...

Lineup notes: Dorsett out; “Unspecified defenseman” banged up

Per the Rangers Twitter feed, Derek Dorsett will be out tonight with a lingering wrist issue. Taylor Pyatt will return to the lineup in Dorsett’s place. Also, AV noted an unspecified defenseman is banged up and the defensemen will be a game time decision. We can speculate all we want, but we know it isn’t John Moore that is banged up, since AV confirmed he will return tonight...
