Speedy kids anchoring Rangers depth

Jesper Fast for Derek Dorsett. J.T. Miller for Benoit Pouliot. Kevin Hayes for Brian Boyle. Three cap saving moves made by the New York Rangers. Three moves that, at the start (or middle, depending on when the player came into the lineup) of the season, were met with more questions than answers. But here we Read more → The post Speedy kids anchoring Rangers depth appeared first...

Dorsett's 3-point night helps Canucks get past Maple Leafs

Derek Dorsett had a goal and two assists for the first three-point game of his career and the Vancouver Canucks beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-1 on Saturday night. Chris Higgins, Jannik Hansen and Shawn Matthias, into an empty net, also scored for Vancouver, and Eddie Lack made 28 saves. Phil Kessel scorred for Toronto, and Jonathan Bernier made 31 saves. Canucks Player Struggles To Bench After Slap Shot Breaks His Skate Blade

Vancouver’s Derek Dorsett ran into an unexpected maintenance issue during last night’s game against the Wild when Minnesota defenseman Matt Dumba fired a slap shot right off his skate blade, breaking it in two. Dorsett immediately hit the deck and struggled his way to the Canucks bench while a teammate cleared his severed blade away Article found on: Next Impulse Sports

GIF: Slap shot breaks Derek Dorsett’s skate blade

Here’s something you don’t see very often. Minnesota’s Matt Dumba wound up for a big shap shot and blasted it in the direction of Vancouver’s Derek Dorsett. Remarkably, the shot broke the blade off of Dorsett’s boot. Dorsett tried to get back to his bench, but it wasn’t easy with just one skate. Hilarious. Rangers trade Dorsett to Canucks for a pick

The Rangers have traded Derek Dorsett to the Canucks in exchange for a third round pick (85th overall) in the 2014 draft. I speculated earlier that Dorsett may be traded in favor of Dan Carcillo or a cheaper alternative for the fourth line as a means to open up some cap space. A third round pick for a fourth line face puncher isn’t a bad return for the Rangers.

Derek Dorsett Snows Small Child During Canadiens’ Pregame Ceremony

Derek Dorsett didn’t really come off a high character guy during Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals in Montreal. Not only did the Rangers forward headbutt Mike Weaver during the Canadiens’ victory, he also snowed of the Habs’ young flag bearers prior to the game. Trying to get under an opponent’s skin and gain an edge in the series is one thing, but this isn’t that...

Quick lineup change: Dorsett in for Carcillo

Per Pat Leonard, Derek Dorsett will be taking Dan Carcillo’s spot in the lineup tonight against Carolina. Dorsett’s last game was March 5th against Toronto. This move might make some people angry considering Carcillo’s strong play with the Rangers, but Dorsett is the more balanced player. His ability to take shifts in the defensive zone late in the game –not to mention his...

Practice Notes: Rangers practice schedule; Dorsett skating

In injury news, Derek Dorsett is skating in a non-contact jersey, and hopes to be ready when the season resumes next week. Dorsett has missed 17 games with a broken leg suffered against Pittsburgh on January 3. Also, per Steve Zipay, the Rangers –who practiced yesterday– will have practice today, tomorrow, and Monday through Wednesday. The Olympians will rejoin the team on Wednesday...

A New York Rangers Fan Guide: Can I root for Carcillo?

When the New York Rangers acquired Dan Carcillo early in January, there was a minor revolt within the team’s fanbase. Carcillo, thanks to three years of douchebaggery on the Flyers from 2008 to 2011, had become one of those players you have to hate to call yourself a Rangers fan. To see the team then go out and trade for the guy felt like inviting Denis Potvin to Christmas dinner...
