The Calgary Flames have re-signed defenseman Derek Smith to a $1.55 million, two-year contract. The Flames announced the deal Wednesday. Smith is currently sidelined with a high ankle sprain. He has two goals and eight assists in 32 games this season. Smith originally signed as a free agent with the Flames on July 13, 2011.
