The Future Is Now
Well, the Fabian Brunnstrom era is over (for now at least). The kid never got a shot with his first stint, but hopefully proves himself in Grand Rapids and gets another shot. But we can start the anticipation, because the Gustav Nyquist era is just beginning. He's been called up from the Griffins and will skate in Tuesday's game against the Wild. And not the 8:09 minutes...

The Red Wings have assigned Brunnstrom, 26, to Grand Rapids, where he can play 10 games or stay 30 days before having to be put through waivers again.

Fabian Brunnstrom: Waived, waiting and wishing to stay with Wings
One week after making an inauspicious debut with the Red Wings, forward Fabian Brunnstrom has been put on waivers. That gives the other NHL teams a shot at picking up Brunnstrom by noon Monday. If that doesn't happen, the Wings can send him to the minors, clearing him off their 23-man roster.

That’s what Bob McKenzie tweeted today, as reposted by the Detroit Sports Site.
The Detroit Red Wings placed forward Fabian Brunnstrom on waivers Sunday, TSN’s Bob MacKenzie reported. Any NHL team can now claim Brunnstrom — if he clears, he’s likely headed to Grand Rapids for a spell. No corresponding roster move was announced.
