Offseason Evaluation: Jeff Schultz
Ah, Sarge. A moment of glory. (WaPo)
As the Washington Capitals’ 2013 season has come to a close, and many words have been written about the team as a whole, it’s now time to look at this club at an individual level. As such, we will be taking a look at each player who played a significant role on the club this season and what they could bring in the future. Next up is...
A Logjam on the Blueline
Will Jeff Schultz be wearing red next season?
LINK CITY: Jeff Schultz trolls Crosby kind of, Canucks are dicks, more trade rumors
via Russian Machine Only Shows Up When He Wants To:
Really strange thing. Schultz is a minus 7 this season so whatever.
The Caps are basically playing for their playoff lives:
Probably going to see their best effort.
After the jump the Canucks are the worst, and some new site.

Jeff Schultz gets his knives out for Georgia State for no particular reason
I ran across this column from noted AJC windbag Jeff Schultz yesterday, and because it didn’t make much sense to me, and it’s been a while since I FJM’d anything, I figured it was ripe for the treatment.  Now, when I say the column didn’t make much sense, it’s not that the message of the [...]
"Red-Line"? Really?
Jeff Schultz of the AJC said recently that UGA should "red-line" kids as part of the recruiting process? I assume that Schultz is aware that red-lining is a practice that lenders (specifically mortgage lenders) used to discriminate against minority and low-income borrowers in the past. The idea was to "red-line" geographic areas where lending would be frowned...
Recruiting Reform
Yesterday, Jeff Schultz posted an AJC article outlining needed recruiting reforms.Â
• 1.) A coach can’t sign more players than he has slots available. If a committed player then fails to qualify academically, gets arrested or the like, that’s on the coach. Go sign somebody else. Every coach would be on equal ground.
• 2.) Scholarships are guaranteed for four or five...
Schultz Discouraged With Benching
from Chuck Gormley of CSNWashington, Capitals defenseman Jeff Schultz sees the writing on the wall. Now he’s just waiting for the phone call informing him he’s been traded or sent to the AHL Hershey Bears.
Schultz will be a healthy scratch for the 12th time in 14 games tonight. That, and Tuesday’s callup of Bears defenseman Tomas Kundratek, has him wondering how long heâ€...
Trade Rumor: Chicago Blackhawks may be looking at Washington Capitals’ Jeff Schultz
It’s no secret the Chicago Blackhawks have lost a few games based on defensive lapses.
Meanwhile guys like Corey Crawford and Ray Emery have taken heat. Not by coach Joel Quenneville, but by fans.
There’s only so much a goalie can do, but Chicago GM Stan Bowman can do a bit more. Such as, bulking up the blueline.
It’s rumored that the Blackhawks may be looking...
Large and In Charge
Ever since John Erskine had his breakout performance last season, a debate has been going on between Capitals bloggers, fans, and media: when the lineup is fully intact among defensemen, does Erskine or Jeff Schultz deserve to get the call on a nightly basis? Â Under Bruce Boudreau, the answer was almost always Schultz. Â Boudreau had seen what Schultz could do every night when...
Dale Hunter’s First Two Games as Washington Capitals Head Coach
All eyes were on the ice when the Washington Capitals squared off against the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday, November 30th. It was their first game under new head coach Dale Hunter. Hunter had just been named as the replacement for Bruce Boudreau; a man who had reached 200 career wins as a head coach faster than anyone else in history, the day before — not much time to make many...
