Q&A about Kevin Porter
OK, I emailed the Avs guy right after the signing, thinking this guy would be our 4th center. However, the consensus seems to be that he'll be chilling in the minors next year. But remember how guys like Matt Ellis and Cody McCormick were vets from other NHL teams and started off in the minors for the Sabres, only to then be brought up and become regulars because of injuries...
Sabres LW Matt Ellis out indefinitely
Buffalo Sabres fourth-line forward Matt Ellis is out indefinitely after hurting his knee last weekend.
Without calling the injury season-ending, coach Lindy Ruff said Ellis will miss an extended period as Buffalo prepared to host Montreal on Monday night. Ellis was hurt in a 4-3 shootout win at Ottawa on Saturday.
The Sabres will also be minus defenseman Andrej Sekera for an uncertain...

Marc-Andre Bourdon, a 22-year-old Quebec native, a defenceman with the Philadelphia Flyers, dropped the gloves for hist first time in the pros with 30-year-old Matt Ellis, a centre with the Buffalo Sabres.
The fight happened with the Sabres ahead 3-1 in the second period.
According to HockeyFights.com polls, Bourdon...
Puck Previews: Boston at Buffalo; Wild signs beer-leaguer
Matt Ellis used to be afraid to look at the Bruins bench. But not tonight.
Preview: St. Louis Blues at Pittsburgh Penguins, 7:00 p.m. ET
Will Sidney Crosby's second game be as awesome as his first? I'm gonna say no, simply because the St. Louis Blues will probably try to stop him. Mind you, in the Islanders' defense, it was hard for them to do much defending while holding...
