MICHAEL SAUER RUMORS

Offensive Offense

There were obviously numerous reasons the Rangers didn't advance to the Stanley Cup Finals this season, but to me the most glaring was their lack of offense, which Dave Lozo at NHL.com agrees with..."During the postseason, when every inch of ice around the net becomes prime real estate teams are willing to defend with their lives, the offense dried up. The Rangers averaged...

Missing Michael Sauer

It’s amazing how quickly someone becomes an afterthought in this league. When Michael Sauer went down with his concussion, it seemed the world had ended. Marc Staal was still out, Sauer was out, and in the following week Jeff Woywitka and Steve Eminger would both suffer injuries. The Rangers were forced to rely on unknown Stu Bickel to play regular minutes to fill out the blue...

Rangers Can't Count on Sauer Return This Year

Andrew Gross at the Bergen Record says that the Rangers are lucky that Marc Staal seems to be back at full strength (two straight games leading team in ice time) because it would be silly to think they can count on a return of Michael Sauer this season....Sauer has almost become a forgotten man. Never a good thing when the team is providing no updates on his situation or timetable...

Mike Sauer Further From Returning than We Think?

It's been nearly two months since defenseman Michael Sauer has played a game for the New York Rangers, and it looks as if the 24-year-old sophomore isn't as close to returning to the lineup as we thought he was a week ago. Sauer was concussed back on December 5 in a game against the Toronto Maple Leafs, when Dion Phaneuf caught him along the boards with a thunderous blow...

Michael Sauer Diagnosed with Concussion

Sauer caught a high hit to the head from Dion Phaneuf in the third period of Monday's 4-2 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs. No other details have been released, so the severity of the concussion is unknown at the moment. Nevertheless, this is a big loss for the Rangers on defense...

Sauer Concussion Deal Another Blow To Rangers Defense Corps

New York Rangers defenseman Michael Sauer took a vicious, clean hit from Dion Phaneuf of the Toronto Maple Leafs Monday night during the third period. After no update yesterday, Rangers coach John Tortorella confirmed that Sauer did in fact suffer a concussion. Sauer is currently listed as day-to-day, but would seem highly unlikely to go tomorrow against Tampa Bay. If Sauer...

Leafs' Phaneuf Crushes Rangers' Sauer With Huge Hit (w/ video)

During the third period of Monday night's game between the New York Rangers and Toronto Maple Leafs, Leafs' captian Dion Phaneuf leveled Rangers' defenseman Michael Sauer with a huge hit along the boards. Sauer was pinching down from the point to keep the play alive and try to get the Rangers the tying goal when Phaneuf stepped up and destroyed him. Sauer did not return...

Musings: The Sauer Effect, Refs vs. MSG, & More

Sorry for the delay, we usually aim to post these things around 7a, but Dave is in California for work, Chris is already serving beer in the UK, and my commute doubles in duration every time it rains. Anyway, here are some quick thoughts before we prepare for the opener tonight. Feel free to chime in below… Amateur Hour The other day we provided video of Adam Mair delivering an...
