Travis Yost: Between the Pipes

There were a handful of differences between the Montreal Canadiens and Ottawa Senators, chief among them the disparity of play in net.
Carey Price (.894) and Peter Budaj (.774) were not good. Craig Anderson (.950) was sensational, putting a stamp on a twenty-four game regular season run that saw him finish near the top of the GAA and...
Montreal Canadians To Start Peter Budaj In Goal
The Montreal Canadians were dealt another blow today, with goalie Carey Price now being ruled out for the remainder of the series between the Canadians and the Ottawa Senators. Goalie Peter Budaj will step in to try and stop the bleeding. This is a must win situation for Montreal and the cards appear to be stacked against them.

NHL Playoff Observations -- Tuesday
Just a few things that caught my eye:
No offense to Peter Budaj, but Montreal has no hope without Carey Price between the pipes. He was terrific before he went down. #HabsDown.
The Isles are like a bad rash -- they just won't go away. They haven't figured out they're supposed to lose to the Penguins. Andrew MacDonald will be hard to replace, though...
Two hours to puck drop…
Depending on the outcome tonight, it could be the first time since 1979 since the Leafs and Habs...well, you know. So what's going to happen? Well, it sounds as if Peter Budaj is starting, and I suspect the Habs will rest a few veterans. If I was in charge, I'd sit Prust, Markov, and if he's still hurting, Michael Ryder. If I were the Leafs, I'd be declaring all out...
Habs Give Peter Budaj Two Year Extension by  Steven Ellis
The Montreal Canadiens announced a two-year contract extension for netminder Peter Budaj with a prorated cap hit of $1.15 million US per season. Budaj has proved he could be a very reliable backup goalie to Carey Price this season. The Slovakian goalie is 6-1-1, with one shutout, a 2.17 goals-against average and .917 save percentage. Budaj [...]
Budaj Signs Extension With Montreal
MONTREAL – Montreal Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin announced Wednesday a two-year contract extension for goaltender Peter Budaj (2013-14 and 2014-15). As per club policy, financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
This season, Budaj played eight games with the Canadiens. In his eight NHL season, his second as a member of the Montreal Canadiens, he has a record...
Francis Bouillon scores on his own net to ruin Peter Budaj’s shutout
Montreal Canadiens goalie Peter Budaj had a shutout going halfway through the third period and the Canadiens had been utterly dominating the Florida Panthers.  That’s when defenseman Francis Bouillon blocked Florida Panthers forward Thomas Kopecky’s shot and then tried to clear the puck.  Unfortunately for Bouillon and Budaj, Bouillon fired the puck right past Budaj and ruinedÂ...

Canadiens defenseman scores on his own net
Montreal Canadiens defenseman Francis Bouillion cranked a nice one-timer to put the Florida Panthers on the board Sunday, ending teammate Peter Budaj’s shutout.  There’s absolutely no reason Budaj should have been expecting Bouillion to shoot the puck on net, but that’s just what he did. Bouillion had just scored his first goal of the season (for his own team) in the second...
RIGHT ON THE TAPE
Habs goalie assists on easiest goal ever
Montreal Canadiens goaltender Peter Budaj must have been in a giving mood Wednesday as he donated to Vinny Lecavalier’s goal scoring fund. Lecavalier misplayed a pass from a teammate along the right wing and the puck slid into the Canadiens’ zone. Budaj skated out to the left face-off circle to play it and play it he did. He served the puck up on a silver platter like a waitress...
Canadiens - Predators: Peter Budaj Leads Habs to Second Straight OT win
With the Nashville Predators playing their 1000th game in the NHL, the Montreal Canadiens played the role of party spoilers tonight with a 2-1 overtime victory.
The Canadiens came out of the gates and controlled the played, using their speed to draw penalties. But they fell into their usual trap of indiscipline, taking way too many penalties and handing the momentum to the Preds...
