REID BOUCHER RUMORS & GOSSIP
They're dead, then their not.
They’re dead, then they not.
That’s been the outside perception of the Devils, whose playoff chances seemingly rose from the dead once again Friday night with their 2-1 win over Washington that Jaromir Jagr called the best of the season coupled with Columbus losing at home to Chicago.
The updated Eastern Conference wild card standings has...

After a pair of two-game auditions (four games total) on the first line with Jagr and Zajac, rookie Reid Boucher was sent down to AHL Albany on Wednesday and replaced by rookie call-up Joe Whitney this morning. Whitney will now join Jagr and Zajac on the top line in Friday night’s home game against the Capitals in his NHL debut.
Reid Boucher's 62 goals last season in the Ontario Hockey League didn’t translate into instant success in the NHL.
The Devils gave the rookie winger chance after chance after chance to produce in his first NHL stint, but 23 games of opportunity, including four on the top line, led to just three goals and seven points.
The Devils still are high on Boucher, but the 20-year...
The Devils have assigned rookie left wing Reid Boucher to Albany of the AHL. Boucher, 20, had two goals and five assists in 23 NHL games since being called up on Dec. 4. He picked up an assist on Jaromir Jagr’s goal in Tuesday’s 7-1 win over St. Louis. Boucher was leading Albany with 10 goals in 21 AHL games before he was called up and also had eight assists. Last year Boucher potted 62 goals in just 68 games, breaking Steven Stamkos’ club record for goals in a season with 60 back in 2011-2012. How’s that for a pedigree? Dude’s leaving broken Stamkos goal scoring records...

Ryan Carter, hurt in a fight with Buffalo's Marcus Foligno Saturday night, was put on injured reserve retroactive to that game.

He was selected by the New Jersey Devils in the 4th round (99th overall) and was labeled a bit of a high-risk, high-reward pick. If Boucher ever panned out properly, there was a chance he could be a top-6 forward. But that seemed unlikely.

President and general manager Lou Lamoriello announced the deal for the 2011 fourth-round draft pick Wednesday without giving details.
