Rangers trade LW Wolski to Panthers
The Rangers traded exiled forward Wojtek Wolski to the Florida Panthers for minor league defenseman Michael Vernace and a third-round pick in the 2013 draft.
The deal was completed Saturday, two days before the NHL trade deadline.
Wolski has been a disappointment since being acquired by New York from Phoenix for popular defenseman Michal Rozsival on Jan. 10, 2011. The 26-year-old...

Rangers Trade Wojtek Wolski to Florida
The New York Rangers have traded forward Wojtek Wolski to the Florida Panthers in exchange for a third-round pick in the 2013 draft and AHL defenseman Mike Vernace, per TSN.
Wolski only played in nine games for the Blueshirts this season due to injuries, and with all of the time he spent on injured reserve, his roster spot on the team quickly vanished into thin air. He doesn...

Other’s are reporting the deal was for a third round pick, but that has been unconfirmed. We will continue to update this post as more information becomes available.
***Update: McKenzie is now reporting that defensemen...

Potential Trade Bait in Wojtek Wolski Needs to Enter Lineup
The New York Rangers may be atop the Eastern Conference despite some streaky play over the last two months, but there is no disguising their recent offensive struggles. A prime example was last night's 2-0 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins, in which it was a grind to generate much of anything in the offensive zone for the Blueshirts, and they were unable to convert on the very...

No Takers for Wolski & His Cap Hit
Steve Zipay at Newsday reports that with 14 forwards on the roster, the Rangers are expected to make some moves this week with Erik Christensen and Wojtek Wolski the likely candidates.Zipay adds that despite Wolski being the more vulnerable, the Rangers have found no takers for the enigmatic winger while shopping him recently. Wolski's $3.8 million salary seems to be the stumbling...

Why the Rangers Need To Cut Loose Wolski
The Rangers need to get rid of Wojtek Wolski one way or the other. His presence may not be that of a locker room cancer but his salary, tantalising ability and mere presence make him a distraction and a temptation for the coaching staff.
Wolski clearly cannot play consistently in Tortorella’s system. A few good shifts here and there are simply not enough for someone with his skill...

What can NHL do about concussion problem?
When New York Rangers forward Wojtek Wolski elbowed Ottawa captain Daniel Alfredsson in the head earlier this season, causing a concussion, NHL disciplinarian Brendan Shanahan declined to suspend Wolski. Shanahan cited Wolskis clean track record and the specifics of the play, arguing that Wolski didnt see Alfredsson until the last minute, then tensed up to protect himself.
When...

Three Games Later, Wolski Is Again In The Doghouse
Maybe “doghouse” isn’t the right word to use here, but after three games back in the lineup Wojtek Wolski has found himself back on the fourth line with minimal ice time. Used as an injury replacement for Brandon Dubinsky, Wolski was flying in his first game back (the 3-0 loss to the Senators). After that, it appeared that the winger was back to his old ways, as...

Wolski Skating: Who Will Sit?
The news broke the other day, via Wojtek Wolski’s twitter, that he is back on the ice and skating following sports hernia surgery. The Rangers have not necessarily missed Wolski, going 9-2-0 in the month of November, but his return can be viewed as a good sign. Wolski certainly has skill, but the question is whether he fits into the current makeup of the roster.
While the initial...

Wolski Will Undergo Surgery, Miss Four Weeks
The New York Rangers have announced that forward Wojtek Wolski (groin) will undergo sports hernia surgery and will miss four weeks, per Andrew Gross. Wolski has already missed six games due to injury this season, as his groin was a repeating issue that caused him some trouble even while in the lineup.
Wolski has recorded two assists in six games so far this year, and will be...
