Richard Cloutier: Oilers to Acquire a Goalie Today?
I'd not sure if I call this good news or bad news: Nikolai Khabibulin is injured. Yann Danis has been called up by the Oilers to take his spot on the roster. I keep looking for some sort of injury report explaining how serious the Khabibulin injury is (or isn't), but no one is talking. All we know is, Khabibulin has a bad hip, and it doesn't appear to be healing as quickly...
KHL Or Not If NHL Players Are Locked Out
from Mark Spector of Sportsnet,
"They pay the players pretty good, but that's where a most all the money is spent. The rest of the set up, it's not even close to the AHL," said goaltender Yann Danis, who spent the 2010-11 season with Khabarovsk Amur, a smaller market team located "about 30 minutes north of China. An eight-hour flight from Moscow."...
Richard Cloutier: Tambellini Doing What He Does Best...
Sleeping.
I shouldn't be so critical of Oilers management. They have been busy re-signing people. On Saturday, of course, the Oilers signed UFA Justin Schultz. On Sunday, the Oilers re-signed forward Ryan Smyth (2 years), goaltender Yann Danis (1 year) and forward Darcy Hordichuk. Other than that, no trades and no other UFA signings.
What gives?
It was said this morning...

He was named the AHL’s outstanding goalie and to the all-star team. Danis, 31, played in one game...

He Could Have Been An NHLer
The NHL has never been a perfect league in its ability to find all of the best talent in the world to play in it. Many NHL capable talents never have significant NHL careers. One prime example of that is Yann Danis. He currently is a star goalie with the Oklahoma City Barons of the AHL. Danis leads the AHL in saves percentage (.938) and goals against average (1.94). He...
OKC sends three to the All-Star Game
Phil Cornet, Alex Plante and Yann Danis have enjoyed solid seasons so far in the AHL with the OKC Barons. All three will represent the Barons at this year's All-Star game. Cornet would have to be considered the biggest surprise, after all it was uncertain what role he'd play in the organization this season. Plante has had his best season in the AHL, and his last year and...
