Oscar Pistorius is one of the fastest sprinters on the planet. This is evidenced by the fact that the South African sprinter competed in the London Olympics not too long ago. Oh, and the South African native also proved his mettle by beating a horse in a head-to-head race. What makes Pistorius so unique is the fact that he has neither legs or feet which to use when running. He uses blades instead and has been aptly named "Bladerunner" because of it.Here's the YouTube description of the video:The Aspire Zone in Doha witnessed "Bladerunner", beating an Arabian horse as part of the 'Definitely Able' campaign which uses special events to highlight the exceptional feats Paralympic athletes are capable of.Pistorius said he was compelled to do the race in hopes that it would change perceptions around the area about those with disabilities. He added that it didn't matter whether or not he won. However, winning against an animal as fleet-footed as a horse can't hurt his cause.

10 Comments:
  • Nope not buying this one.

The "rider?" was holding the horse back. The horse was also being manhandled from the start. Look at the way the "rider? tries to force his horse against the fence.

So therefore, I call Horse Pucky on this event.
  • Gosh do you think the horse could have been beaten any more???? Disgusting.
  • I give credit to Oscar Pistorius but it wasnt a head to head race at all. How big of a head start did he have on the horse? He didn't beat the horse, he just didn't let the horse catch up.
  • This particular demonstration has been done many times over the years. A first-rate human sprinter is faster than an Arabian - or a thoroughbred - for about the first thirty yards; then the horse leaves them in the proverbial cloud of dust. How long was this contest?
  • Did you watch the start? The rider could not even get the horse to go forward let alone break into a gallop.
  • Uh, yeah, the horse danced in place for 20 seconds and then ran poorly because the rider was holding him back until close to the end (yes, in spite of the appearance of "whipping" the horse.) A racing Quarter Horse can run 55 mph and cross a quarter mile in less than 21 seconds from a standing start. The world record for a human to run 400 meters, which is LESS than a quarter mile, is 43.18 seconds. So, unless Bladerunner just slashed the world record in half, which I doubt, this demonstration was bogus. Let's see Bladerunner go up against a sprint horse that actually breaks and runs cleanly in a honest race.
  • It would have been a better race if the jockey actually knew how to ride the horse from the start
  • And look how hard the f-----g jocky beat the horse. Shame!!!
All for the sport and pleasure of human entertainment. I'd love to beat the jockies a...s the way he beat the horse. Maddd humans. WE ARE THE TRUE PIGS OF THIS WORLD.!

Now comes this...
