We broke camp last week and had a rookie show to close it out. Coach Del Rio told us before practice Monday morning that we had 24 hours to put together a rookie show. He handed us the tape of last year's show and said get some ideas. Obviously we weren't going to copy it. He basically said if you want to get back at some of the veterans or even the coaches now's the time to do it. Everyone was fair game. We went back to the hotel as a group, sat in a room and brainstormed a bunch of ideas. The special teams guys... the punter, kicker and long snapper helped us put together the powerpoint.
We came up with a bunch of skits and some of the veterans and coaches said it was the best rookie show they had ever seen. We didn't get any boos we just gave them a bunch of stuff to laugh at. We had a lookalike part where we put funny pictures of some of the veterans up there and compared them to actors or celebrities they look like. I'm not going to name names but we had one guy look like Tommy Davidson, one guy look like Dwayne Wade and another guy look like Gary Coleman.
We did some impersonations of some of the veterans, their mannerisms and things they say all the time. We found video of a guy on YouTube and reenacted that. We made fun of the coaches their vernacular and phrases and expressions they are known for. It was hilarious. I wish I could share some of that stuff but too much cursing for a family blog! The coaches couldn't stop laughing, even today when they saw us they just turned their heads and laughed.
It was a great way to close out camp.
