Canada FIFA World Cup Star Could Get First Start For Inter Milan In Serie A Clash Vs Sassuolo

Wingback Tajon Buchanan could get his first ever start for Inter Milan in Saturday’s Serie A match away to Sassuolo.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.

Buchanan joined Inter from Club Brugge during the January transfer window.

However, as of yet, the 25-year-old Canadian international has yet to make a start.

That is not to say that Buchanan has not featured. He has made a total of six appearances for Inter since his arrival.

But all of these have been from the bench.

Buchanan has played a total of 54 minutes in Serie A so far.

This is in some ways par for the course for the position that Buchanan plays. The adaptation period for wingbacks in Inter coach Simone Inzaghi’s 3-5-2 system can be a long one.

But sooner or later, of course, Buchanan will get a start.

The last few matches of the season could be an opportunity for the Canadian to get valuable experience with a view to playing a more prominent role next campaign.

According to Tuttosport, Buchanan could start on the left flank against Sassuolo this weekend.

Inter signed the 25-year-old seemingly with the intention of primarily playing him at right-wingback.

However, Buchanan is a versatile player. And he has so far played all of his minutes at left-wingback instead.

Meanwhile, Tuttosport anticipate, Buchanan isn’t the only player who could come into the team for Saturday’s match. The newspaper predicts significant squad rotation.

On the other flank, Denzel Dumfries or even Juan Cuadrado could start.

Then in midfield, there could be opportunities for Kristjan Asllani and Davide Frattesi.
