Former Fulham forward Clint Dempsey has claimed the club lied about his situation before a deadline-day switch to Tottenham was sealed. Dempsey had made it clear a long time ago that he saw his future away from Craven Cottage and it was believed Liverpool was his most likely destination. Fulham reported the Anfield club to the Premier League for allegedly tapping up Dempsey, who had been left out of manager Martin Jol's side for the opening games of the new season. The 29-year-old USA international then made a surprise late move to London rivals Spurs on the final day of the transfer window and has now revealed he was unhappy with how his exit was handled. "There were some things that were said that weren't true," he told Sky Sports "That's in the past now. It's about looking toward to the future and like I said, I'm looking forward to playing with Tottenham. It's a great team, a great club."
