Newcastle United defender Paul Dummett has revealed his determination to fight for a starting position at the club.
The 31-year-old has played over 200 games for the Magpies, but is out of favor at present.
Manager Eddie Howe has other players he prefers, but Dummett is ready to wait for his chances.
Dummett told Chronicle Live: "I am a Newcastle fan, Newcastle born. I have been here a lot of years. And a lot of people may have questioned why I'd want to stay if I hadn't had many minutes. But at the end of the day, I am a fan, and the club is going in the right direction.
"We've got the Champions League and for me to experience that as a fan and now possibly play in it...that's just in my dreams to play for Newcastle in it. There's going to be more games and more opportunities for me to play.
"I need to be ready and fully fit and if I am fully fit and get the chance hopefully I can take it."
