Former Nerazzurri, Spurs, and PSG midfielder Stephane Dalmat admits he’s surprised by how dominant Inter Milan have been in Serie A.

The Frenchman gave his thoughts on his old team’s season speaking to Italian news outlet Calciomercato.it.

Inter have not just won the Serie A title this season.

The Nerazzurri have done so in absolutely dominant fashion.

Inter have seen off title challenges from the likes of AC Milan and Juventus.

Whilst the Rossoneri and the Bianconeri dropped off significantly at points during the season, Inter have been relentlessly consistent.

The result is that Inter are eighteen points clear of city rivals Milan at the top of the table.

The Nerazzurri clinched the title – with a win over the Rossoneri – with five matches.

Inter have scored the most goals, conceded the fewest, and kept the most clean sheets in the Italian top flight since the start of the season.

Dalmat: “Knew Inter Would Win Serie A – But Not By This Margin”

“I’m always closely following Inter,” said Dalmat.

“At the start of the season, I said that they had the strongest squad, and so I was confident that they’d win the Scudetto.”

“It’s been an extraordinary run from them,” Dalmat continued. “They’ve won all the decisive matches against title rivals like Juventus, Milan, and Napoli.”

“To tell you the truth, I didn’t think there would be such a big gap between Inter and the other teams.”

“Inter deserved this title 100%,” Dalmat said. “There was absolutely no contest.”

Meanwhile, Dalmat also praised Inter striker Marcus Thuram. “Not because I’m French,” he added.

“For many he’s been a surprise. There were a lot of doubters when he arrived in Milan last summer, because people didn’t know him that well.”

“But I had a lot of faith in Marcus, because he’s a great player and I thought he could hit the ground running at Inter.”

“But to tell you the truth, he’s still surprised me,” Dalmat continued. “I thought he’d be very good, but not to this level.”

“His season has been crazy, between goals, assists, and high-level overall performances.”

Dalmat noted that Thuram “Changed the face of Inter’s attack.”

“For example, he helped his teammate Lautaro Martinez to be even more prolific in front of goals than in previous seasons.”

“There was an immediate connection between the two, and that made the difference,” Dalmat added.
