Davide Frattesi hasn’t had the prominent role he perhaps hoped for in his first Inter season, but he doesn’t regret the choice he made last summer. He pushed to join them while being tracked by all the top Italian sides, Tuttomercatoweb informed.

Despite being utilized mostly as a super-sub, the Italian midfielder has still put up respectable numbers. He has hit the net 7 times and provided 5 assists in 39 appearances across all competitions. He has started just 8 times in Serie A and Champions League combined.

According to the publication, an important Spanish club, likely Atletico Madrid, touched base with the entourage of Frattesi, but he’s very happy at Inter. Juventus, Milan, and Roma all pursued him last summer. The Nerazzurri won the race thanks to the help of the player. They will wind up paying €34M for him considering the initial fee and their obligation to buy.

The 24-year-old is focused on the final matches, where he should have more opportunities, and the Euro with the Azzurri. He’ll have to compete also with Piotr Zielinski too next season.

Our Take on Inter and Frattesi

One of Simone Inzaghi’s biggest credits is that he holds the locker room in the palm of his hand and nobody complains about their game time, at least publicly, even those who would have legitimate gripes like the ex-Sassuolo man. In that sense, buying young-ish players from smaller sides helped this year, but they’ll have to find more minutes for him eventually.
