Liverpool forward Luis Suarez has been voted in second place for the 2012-13 PFA Player of the Year award, behind winner Gareth Bale and ahead of third-place Robin van Persie. The results were revealed at the annual PFA awards ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London on Sunday, where Bale was crowned the country’s best for the current season. The Tottenham Hotspur man scooped the award for the second time in his career and actually achieved double glory after also finishing first in the race for PFA Young Player of the Year. Enjoying his most productive campaign to date, 23-year-old Bale has notched 19 league goals for Spurs — behind only Suarez and van Persie in the Barclays Premier League. Suarez has struck 30 goals for the Reds during 2012-13, including 23 in the Premier League, and finished second in the vote by professional players across the country. Van Persie has found the net 25 times in the league this season to help guide Manchester United to the title and establish himself at the summit of the scoring charts. The Dutchman lifted the prize 12 months ago, while Welsh winger Bale first claimed the honor in 2010-11. Steven Gerrard was the last Liverpool player to top the vote, in 2005-06. Liverpool No. 7 Suarez was also recognized by his peers by being named in the PFA Team of the Year. The PFA Team of the Year is: David De Gea, Pablo Zabaleta, Rio Ferdinand, Jan Vertonghen, Leighton Baines, Eden Hazard, Juan Mata, Michael Carrick, Gareth Bale, Robin van Persie, Luis Suarez.
