Manchester United coach Benni McCarthy believes he can improve Manchester City's Erling Haaland.

The Norway forward had an unbelievable season last term, helping City to win the Treble.

McCarthy, who has improved Marcus Rashford at United, believes he can do the same for Haaland.

"If he was to sign for Man United, then hell yeah," he told radio station 947 in South Africa.

"I would love to contribute but I don't see that ever happening.

"I can't see a possibility for me ever coaching Erling Haaland. But I think he's a great striker. He's still got loads of room for improvement. I observe and analyze a lot of attacking players, sometimes I just feel he can improve his game a little bit, especially when defenders try to mark him out of the game.

"I saw against Real Madrid, Antonio Rudiger was so tight on him and he ended up not having a solution, even though he's such a strong and powerful player. He's got speed, heading ability, but you need to adjust your game to play against different kinds of defenders."
