But following a semifinal run in Washington D.C., an unexpected fourth-round appearance at the U.S. Open and his first-ever tournament final this weekend in Bangkok, the 22-year-old cracked the top 50 in this week's rankings. Young is currently at No. 43 and defends almost no points until April, which could allow him to rise to the top 32 and earn a seed at the Australian Open.
