( February 28, 2013) DUBAI – Juan Martin Del Potro reached the semifinals of the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships for a second straight year on Thursday when he defeated qualifier Daniel Brands 6-4, 6-2.
The pair had met just once before, in Vienna last October when Del Potro fired 30 aces and Brands 32 in a match that Del Potro won at the end of three tiebreak sets.
Fifth-seeded Gilles Simon beat Belgian qualifier Daniel Brands 7-6 (3), 6-4 Monday in the first round of the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament.
