Hive Jump 2: Survivors Early Access Date Revealed

As of this writing, Hive Jump 2: Survivors is only available on two platforms – Linux, and PC. In the mean time, players can download the Demo for free or wishlist the game on Steam.

On the other hand, Hive Jump was initially released in January 2017. This prequel is available on Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows, Linux, Wii U, and Mac operating systems.

Hive Jump 2: Survivors Gameplay

Players begin by choosing their character from a roster of unique Jetpack Jumpers, each with their own set of abilities, stats, and playstyles. Whether you prefer agility, firepower, or durability, there’s a Jumper to suit your style.

Before diving into the action, players can customize their Jumpers with various augmentations, enhancing their abilities and survivability. Upgrades could include increased damage, faster movement speed, higher health reserves, or special abilities like temporary shields or invisibility.

Once on the hostile planet, players utilize their jetpacks to maneuver through treacherous terrain while engaging waves of bug-like aliens. Dodging incoming attacks, navigating obstacles, and finding advantageous positions are essential to survival.

Furthermore, players can collect and purchase weapons, utilities, and power-ups using currency obtained from defeating enemies. From traditional firearms to exotic alien tech, there’s a wide array of tools at your disposal. Experimenting with different combinations can be key to success.

As players progress, they must make strategic decisions on the fly. Should they focus on exterminating enemy hives to stem the tide of reinforcements, or prioritize collecting valuable resources to upgrade their Jumper? Every choice could mean the difference between life and death.

Collecting amber and alien goo allows players to acquire permanent upgrades for their Jumpers, enhancing their abilities and unlocking new possibilities. This adds a layer of progression and long-term strategy to the gameplay experience.

Ultimately, players will face off against powerful boss enemies and overcome various challenges, testing their skills to the limit.

Players can compete against each other in competitive modes, testing their skills in leaderboard rankings. Additionally, cooperative multiplayer modes allow friends to team up and tackle the alien menace together, enhancing the social aspect of the game.

Hive Jump 2: Survivors  Story

Players take on the role of a lone survivor of an elite squad of Jetpack Jumpers ambushed by aliens. Set on an alien planet where murderous bug-like alien swarms, a lone jetpack jumper desperately attempts to survive. Using only a jetpack as his ultimate weapon, fueled by his thirst for vengeance, the survivor battles through waves of enemies.

Moreover, the survivor uncovers the mystery behind the invasion and ultimately confronts the source of the threat in a final showdown. With allies and upgraded gear, they emerge victorious, hailed as heroes who saved the galaxy.

Studio Director of Graphite Lab, Matt Raithel states:

“Following the success of Hive Jump, we wanted to create a follow-up that would satisfy fans of the original game and bring new fighters to the hive.”

The Studio Director also adds:

“The fast-paced combat of Hive Jump 2: Survivors combined with its distinctive jetpack mechanics make for a roguelike that stands out from the swarm.”

Hive Jump 2 Early Access Roadmap

According to the game’s Steam store page, the developers expect the game to remain in Early Access for about 6 months. By the time of the game’s full release, there will be more levels, more guns, more enemies, and more chaos.

Regardless, the game should be fully playable in its early access release. There are already a handful of guns, relics, enemies, and one level with a boss fight at the end. Progress will also be retained throughout the Early Access period and into the full release.
