Dominik Mysterio Could Require Surgery After WWE Star Suffers Injury at AAA Guerra de Titanes

Rey Mysterio pinned Dominik Mysterio after Penta, who was pulled from the match due to injury, interfered and prevented El Grande Americano from using a foreign object. He then used an object in his mask to deliver a headbutt on Dom, which allowed Rey to hit a 619 and the pinfall victory.

During the match, a spot between Dom and Rey appears to have resulted in the Intercontinental Champion sustaining a shoulder injury. Bryan Alvarez reports on Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the injury occurred when taking a DDT from the WWE Hall of Famer.

Alvarez added:

"Based on how he landed, my presumption is it’s likely a shoulder separation, which, depending on the severity, could be a short-term injury, or worst case scenario, surgery. But we won’t know anything until he gets evaluated. He could barely use the arm at all."

If Dom has suffered a serious injury, it will be a massive setback for the double-champion and WWE ahead of the new year. The Royal Rumble begins early this year, taking place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on January 31st.

Should the 28-year-old require surgery, it could mean he misses the start of the Road to WrestleMania 42. He'd also join fellow Judgment Day member JD McDonagh, who underwent surgery on his wrist earlier this month.

Dominik Mysterio and El Grande Americano Split Teased

Dom has been aligned with Americano for several months alongside his role in The Judgment Day, and WWE has used their partnership in Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide. They teamed up again last night after doing so against Vikingo and Dragon Lee at AAA Alianzas last month.

A potential separation was teased following their tag team loss to Rey and Fenix when Dom pushed Americano in frustration before heading backstage. Americano shook hands with Rey to possibly indicate a face turn and a possible feud with the AAA Mega Champion could be on the cards.

If Dom has recovered from his injury in the new year, a rivalry between the pair could be used in WWE and AAA. Americano has become extremely popular, and winning his first singles title could be a possibility.
