Brandon Figueroa vs Joet Gonzalez

In the opening bout of the pay per view, former WBC junior featherweight champ Brandon Figueroa won a unanimous decision over veteran Joet Gonzalez in what was billed as a WBA eliminator at 126 lb.

Even though Gonzalez was more aggressive early on in the bout, Figueroa, now 25-2-1, 19 KOS, came on in the final four rounds. And, in the end, Figueroa scored more to the body inside late on Gonzalez and according to Compubox out-landed Gonzalez 282-265 in total punches.  The official scores read 116-112 x2 annd 115-113 on the third card, but many at ringside thought Gonzalez had done enough to win.

Still, the veteran Gonzalez drops to 27-4 with the defeat. Meanwhile, Figueroa, who lost twice previously, including his last bout to Stephen Fulton, now waits for a chance at a more prominent bout at featherweight.
