Mike Tyson has always been a controversial fighter, but his post-fight interview after a brutal KO win has gone down as one of the most bizarre things he’s said.

The former Heavyweight champion continued his comeback after a spell in prison with a fight against Lou Savarese, as he rose through the ranks in an attempt to challenge Lennox Lewis for his world title.

Tyson finished off Savarese in just 38 seconds, one of his fastest knockouts that barely saw the former champion break a sweat.

He was more animated after the fight, where he made some bizarre claims and odd threats towards a man he would face in the ring two years later.

Mike Tyson compared himself to Alexander the Great and threatened to eat Lennox Lewis’s children

After knocking out Savarese in quick fashion, Tyson went off in an interview in the ring to brag about his accomplishments and warn Lennox Lewis about his intentions.

Speaking in the ring, Tyson called himself the “most brutal and vicious” champion of all time, before comparing himself with Alexander the Great while referencing Lewis, who was the world Heavyweight champion at the time.

Tyson finished off by claiming he wanted to “eat his children”, in a bizarre ending to a heated speech by the former champion.

Tyson rambled: “I’m the best ever, I’m the most brutal and vicious and most ruthless champion that has ever been.”

“No one can stop me. Lennox is a conqueror? No! He’s no Alexander! I’m Alexander [The Great]! I’m the best ever.

“I’m Sonny Liston. I’m Jack Dempsey. There’s never been anyone like me. I’m from their cloth. There is no one who can match me.

“My style is impetuous, my defense is impregnable, and I’m just ferocious. I want your heart! I want to eat his children! Praise to Allah.”

However, he was humbled by Lewis when the pair finally battled in the ring.

Lennox Lewis would knock out Mike Tyson when they finally faced off in 2002

Two years after his infamous “eat his children” speech, Tyson would get his wish to step into the ring with Lewis in a world title fight.

Lewis had just reclaimed his title after a shock loss to Hasim Rahman, and stepped into the Pyramid in Memphis, Tennessee as the favorite over the #1-ranked contender.

Lewis had 15 lbs and a seven-inch height advantage over Tyson, and tensions were heated after a brawl at the press conference in the build-up to the bout.

The size difference proved crucial. Lewis kept Tyson at arm’s length with his jabs and suffocated him with clinches whenever he managed to break through to fight on the inside.

The bout finished in the eighth round, when Lewis overpowered Tyson to knock him out and retain his WBC Heavyweight title, proving once and for all that he was one of the greatest Heavyweights of all time.

Tyson was humbled by the defeat and didn’t end up eating any children following this defeat.
