On June 28 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, live on DAZN PPV, Jake Paul defeated Julio Cesar Chavez Jr by unanimous decision. Following his latest win, “El Gallo” spoke at the post-fight press conference, and in a clip posted by Fight Hub TV, Team Paul took aim at Canelo Alvarez and addressed the PED allegations made by some, including Julio Cesar Chavez Jr before the fight.
Paul (12-1, 7 KOs) once again, defeated an ageing former world champion in Julio Cesar Chavez (54-7-1, 34 KOs, 1 NC).
Paul bossed most of the fight by staying behind his jab and letting his power punches go. Chavez did very little for most of the fight, until the final few rounds when he began to fire off some hooks, which seemed to slow Paul down.
It was ultimately a disappointing performance from Chavez, but should we have expected anything else from an ageing fighter, whose recent showings were underwhelming at best? The judges’ scorecards read 99-91, 98-92, and 97-93, all in favour of “El Gallo.”
During the post-fight presser, Jake Paul spoke to the media about PED accusations aimed at him: “Always love to hate, make rumours up about me, but I do drug testing. The commission drug testing right before fi…all these types of things.”
Nakisa Bidarian, co-founder of Most Valuable Promotions then said: “They should focus on Canelo and his team, not on Jake Paul, cause Jake Paul has been clean time and time again.”
“It’s so crazy, it’s so crazy, people that actually pop for this s**t, they don’t call them out and then I’m over here looking like a dough boy. I got love handles, dog. That’s after not eating for three f***ing weeks basically, so…if I was on that s**t, it wasn’t f***ing working,” added Paul.
