At Louis Armstrong Stadium, in Queens, New York, William Zepeda (33-0, 27 KOs) will challenge Shakur Stevenson for Stevenson’s WBC world lightweight title. Their world title bout will be on The Ring III fight card. As we build up to fight night, we bring you Zepeda’s last three opponents.
William Zepeda was last seen in action on March 29, 2025, facing Tevin Farmer in their rematch. Zepeda started well, showcasing his quick hand speed. Farmer had his moments again, showcasing impressive accuracy and a great chin to take some big shots from Zepeda.
Whenever Zepeda looked like he was getting on top, Farmer would fire back with sharp combinations. It seemed that Zepeda’s work rate was once again the key factor, as he won by majority decision. The judges’ scorecards read 114-114, with the remaining two cards reading 116-112 and 115-113 for “Camaron.”
Zepeda then faced Tevin Famer on the Riyadh Season Latino Night on November 16, 2024. Both fighters had their moments in the opening few rounds before Farmer landed a counter left hand in round four, which knocked Zepeda down.
William Zepeda was the sharper puncher throughout, but Farmer’s timing caused the Mexican problems. The work rate of “Camaron” appeared to be the deciding factor, with the judges’ scorecards reading 95-94 for Farmer, with the final two cards reading the same for Zepeda, awarding him the split decision victory. This win crowned “Camaron” the WBC interim lightweight title.
On July 6, 2024, Zepeda faced Giovanni Cabrera, and it was a dominating performance from the Mexican southpaw. Cabrera started well in the first two rounds, but once Zepeda pressed go, that was it.
In round three, Zepeda began to land some smart combinations that got the fans in attendance roaring. Zepeda let fly with a barrage of lefts and rights, including some vicious body shots. “Camaron” scored a knockdown, following a sharp left-right. Despite beating the count, the fight was waved off by referee Thomas Taylor.
