Notre Dame added a very important piece to its 2024 class when it landed big time offensive tackle Guerby Lambert. Let's take a look at the profile for the new Fighting Irish commit.

FILM ANALYSIS
The first thing you'll notice when watching Lambert on film is his size. He's a massive young player with height (6-7), elite length and a massive frame. Lambert has some of the longest arms in the class, and his length is the best I've seen from a Notre Dame pickup since Ronnie Stanley (2012-15). As a senior, Lambert has shown improvement in his ability to use his length to his advantage in the run game and pass game, but it's been especially noticeable in pass pro.
He's currently listed at 290 pounds, but he looks bigger than that, and he has the kind of frame to easily carry at least 315 pounds at the next level. Lambert is a broad shouldered player with a thick lower half, and with more physical maturity and work in a college strength program he'll start to add some really good weight to that impressive frame. He has the physical profile you want in an elite offensive tackle.
Lambert has impressive natural power, showing an impressive punch and leg drive. He gets good movement in the run game thanks to his size and power, but he also moves his feet well in the run game. In the past, Lambert needed work on consistency from a pad level standpoint, but he has played much better in this area as a senior. Lambert has all the tools needed to develop into an outstanding run blocker at the next level.
The athletic profile grades out high for Lambert as well. He shows top notch quickness out of his stance in the pass game, and he possesses the lateral quickness needed to handle double moves, blitzers and line games. Combine that agility with his length and natural power, and Lambert has truly elite pass protection potential. He got by with natural ability in past years, but through two games as a senior his technique and hand play has taken a jump and it's allowed him to eat up edge rushers.
NOTRE DAME FIT
Lambert is a right tackle for Catholic Memorial, but he has all the tools needed to play both spots for Notre Dame. Assuming he can learn to play left handed, his unique skillset seems ideally suited for the left tackle position. When you look at the best tackles in the 2023 class - Charles Jagusah and Sullivan Absher - having Lambert able to play on the left side becomes even more important, and he projects to be able to thrive on that side as well.
