The Badgers were initially planning for Austin Brown to be a starter come Week 1. The Wisconsin Badgers returned one of their deepest position groups back to the fold this year at safety, with nearly every rotational piece and starter coming back for another season.

The Badgers still like Austin Brown in a versatile role, despite their depth. The Wisconsin Badgers are set to begin fall camp on Tuesday, setting themselves up to have a bounce-back season in 2024 after a 7-6 year in 2023.

On the first day of Wisconsin Badgers spring football practice, Luke Fickell and his staff had safety Austin Brown in the nickel spot, much like they did against LSU in the ReliaQuest Bowl.  Some initially viewed it as a temporary solution prompted by depth issues.
