It is déjà vu all over again for the conference crown. For the third time in as many years, the Mountain West Championship game will feature UNLV and Boise State.
The wild Mountain West continues to keep fans and oddsmakers guessing. With two weeks remaining in the regular season, seven teams are still alive for a spot in the conference title game.
All eyes will be on backup quarterback Max Cutforth when Boise State faces off against San Diego State on Saturday in a critical Mountain West matchup.
And the Mountain West turns itself upside down once again. Last week, San Diego State allowed nearly as many points in their loss to Hawaii as they had in all of their conference games prior.
San Diego State goes from facing pass-happy Hawaii quarterback Micah Alejado, who carved up the Aztecs for 256 yards and three touchdowns, to facing Boise State backup Max Cutforth in a showdown between Mountain West co-leaders on Saturday night at Snapdragon Stadium.
With backup quarterback Max Cutforth behind center, Boise State’s offense will face its stiffest test of the season on Saturday against San Diego State. The Aztecs (7-2, 4-1) lead the Mountain West in several defensive categories, including scoring defense and total defense.
