20 iconic actors who won awards for bad acting

Sylvester Stallone is a Hollywood icon with three Oscar nominations to his name, but he’s also won a handful of awards for bad acting. He’s got multiple Golden Raspberry Awards for his work in the Rambo films, as well as a Stinkers Bad Movie Award. 

The Golden Raspberry Awards, otherwise known as the Razzies, have not been kind to Kevin Costner. The man has two Oscars, but he has more Razzies. And he’s been nominated … a lot. 

Farrah Fawcett became an icon thanks to her work in the original Charlie’s Angels series, but that didn’t mean she was exempt from criticism. Fawcett won one of the inaugural Stinkers Bad Movie Awards for her role in Somebody Killed Her Husband. 

No one is safe from bad acting awards — not even literal EGOT winners. Barbra Streisand took home a Stinkers Bad Movie Award in the late ‘70s after her performance in The Main Event. 

Imagine having the audacity to insult Oscar winner Faye Dunaway with an award for bad acting. The icon got both a Razzie and a Stinkers Bad Movie Award after starring in Mommie Dearest. The movie also took home quite a few awards. 

Some people just don’t appreciate good comedy. Adam Sandler has more Razzies than most of his contemporaries (he only has fewer nominations than Sylvester Stallone), taking home awards for his performances in films like Big Daddy and Just Go With It. 

Sometimes, the Razzies award the same actor for multiple performances in the same year, making the actor feel terrible for an entire year of work. Ben Affleck earned three Razzies in 2004 for Daredevil, Gigli, and Paycheck. He also won three Stinkers Bad Movie Awards for those same films that year. 

In 2004, Jennifer Lopez also won a Razzie and a Stinkers Bad Movie Award for her work in Gigli. Lopez also has the dishonor of having more Razzie nominations than any other actress. 

Seriously, having achieved EGOT should make actors exempt from receiving bad acting awards. Liza Minnelli was honored with two Razzies in ‘88 for Arthur 2: On the Rocks and Rent-a-Cop. 

Sharon Stone took home Stinkers Bad Movie Awards two years in a row: one in ‘94 for Silver and two more in ‘95 for Intersection and The Specialist. She took home two Razzies in ‘95 for the exact same performances. 

There’s no reason to insult icons at the end of their careers. In 1997, Marlon Brando won a Stinkers Bad Movie Award for his work in The Island of Dr. Moreau. He beat out his Godfather co-star James Caan for the dishonor. 

Demi Moore is another repeat winner, taking home Razzies in ‘97 and ‘98 for The Juror and Stripŧease, then G.I. Jane. The Oscar nominee has now been more than vindicated. 

For a time in Bruce Willis and Demi Moore’s marriage, they couldn’t escape Razzies. In 1999, Willis was awarded a whopping three Razzies for Armageddon, Mercury Rising, and The Siege. He also got a Stinkers Bad Movie Award that same year for Armageddon.

The Stinkers Bad Movie Awards stopped doling out dishonors after 2007, but the committee made sure to insult as many icons as possible before disbanding. Penelope Cruz won in ‘04 for Gothika and Masked and Anonymous. 

John Travolta has been awarded all sorts of Razzies and Stinkers. Among the films he’s been dishonored for are Lucky Numbers, Battlefield Earth, and The Fanatic. He’s been nominated a handful of times, too. 

Melanie Griffith’s entire family is in show business, but the Razzies have no loyalty to nepo babies. She has received the award multiple times. Her daughter, Dakota Johnson, also has multiple Razzies. 

One year you’re on top, and the next year you’re at the bottom. In 2002, Halle Berry took home the Oscar for her work in Monster's Ball. In 2005, she took home a Razzie and a Stinkers Bad Movie Award for her work in Catwoman. 

Sandra Bullock can relate to Halle Berry’s plight, though Sandy’s might be a little more insulting. In the same year that she won an Oscar for The Blind Side, she also won a Razzie for All About Steve. It’s not hard to imagine which award she’s more proud of. 

While the Razzies are still in business, the Stinkers Bad Movie Awards are not. Their final Worst Actress award was given out in 2007 to Oscar winner Julianne Moore for her performance in Freedomland. 

Jon Voight and Angelina Jolie share a lot in common. They are from the same bloodline, both are Oscar winners, and so on. But Voight has the dishonor of having a Razzie, something his daughter has yet to win. Voight took his home in 2024 for Mercy.
