‘9-1-1’ Promo: Bobby Gets Creative to Help Athena With Emergency Landing (Video)
ABC

The nightmare is far from over for Athena (Angela Bassett) on her way back to Los Angeles on 9-1-1. And she didn’t even want to transport her fiancé’s killer, Dennis Jenkins (Glenn Plummer), back in the first place as part of a deal to find out who else was involved in a sex trafficking ring!

It was at the end of the Season 8 premiere that the bee-nado event hit Athena’s plane hard: Those buzzing insects caused a smaller plane to collide with the one she’s on mid-air. The second episode detailed the events that followed: Athena contacting 9-1-1 and being connected to air traffic control, the 118 helping the passengers treat each other’s injuries via phone, Athena having to turn and prepare to land the plane, Bobby (Peter Krause) being unreachable with his phone off on the set of the TV show for which he’s the tech advisor and Buck (Oliver Stark) going to alert him, and the pilot suffering a heart attack just after waking.

Because of that, as the promo for “Final Approach” shows, Athena’s once again responsible for making the emergency landing. “What do you need from me?” Bobby asks. “You got a runway in your back pocket?” she asks. Well, he might not have that, but the 118 can shut down the 110 and clear a space. That’s going to need to be done quickly, however, with more emergencies (fire!) on the plane.

“I love you,” Athena says. “Tell me in person,” Bobby tells her. Watch the full promo below for more.

“The bees are in many ways a setup for a much bigger and more epic emergency, and I really love the bees in the first episode. I like it when the show isn’t afraid to be a bit ridiculous. We are making an entertainment television show, and so I love leaning into that. And then it allows us to spiral into something really epic and dramatic,” Stark told TV Insider. “I think this run of episodes is—obviously the cruise ship was great last year—maybe the best opening few episodes that we’ve had in a good few seasons. So I’m really, really excited for it. And I know we say this every year, but I actually mean it this year: I think it’s got bigger and better.”
