'Alien: Earth' trailer terrifies with two monsters: Xenomorphs and humans

There have always been two kinds of monsters in the Alien franchise, each responsible for so much death. The first and most famous are Xenomorphs. But they have only killed so many people because of the greed and ambition of amoral humans. And both groups will be back to wreak havoc in Noah Hawley’s upcoming FX series Alien: Earth. Alien: Earth‘s newest and most detailed trailer reveals that mankind will be bringing space monsters to a planet already filled with the human kind, Earth.

“If we don’t lock them down, it will be too late.” The chilling words utter through the Alien: Earth trailer. Spoiler alert: It’s already too late. Never listen to a scientist or CEO who wants to try to control a creature that can’t be controlled. (These people would know that if they ever got to see an Alien movie.)

The Alien: Earth trailer is also full of fresh ideas (beyond just taking place on Earth) that will make this series feel distinct from its movie counterparts. Its story will begin when “the mysterious deep space research vessel USCSS Maginot crash-lands on Earth.” That’s when the real fun and real terror will start.

In addition to the trailer, FX shares Alien: Earth‘s official synopsis:

In the year 2120, the Earth is governed by five corporations: Prodigy, Weyland-Yutani, Lynch, Dynamic and Threshold. In this Corporate Era, cyborgs (humans with both biological and artificial parts) and synthetics (humanoid robots with artificial intelligence) exist alongside humans. But the game is changed when the wunderkind Founder and CEO of Prodigy Corporation unlocks a new technological advancement: hybrids (humanoid robots infused with human consciousness). The first hybrid prototype named “Wendy” marks a new dawn in the race for immortality. After Weyland-Yutani’s spaceship collides into Prodigy City, “Wendy” and the other hybrids encounter mysterious life forms more terrifying than anyone could have ever imagined.

The show stars Sydney Chandler as “Wendy.” It also features Timothy Olyphant (“Kirsh”), Alex Lawther (“Hermit”), Samuel Blenkin (“Boy Kavalier”), Babou Ceesay (“Morrow”), Adrian Edmondson (“Atom Eins”), David Rysdahl (“Arthur Sylvia”), Essie Davis (“Dame Sylvia”), Lily Newmark (“Nibs”), Erana James (“Curly”), Adarsh Gourav (“Slightly”), Jonathan Ajayi (“Smee”), Kit Young (“Tootles”), Dim Camille (“Siberian”), Moe Bar-El (“Rashidi”) and Sandra Yi Sencindiver (“Yutani”).

Alien: Earth crash lands at FX and Hulu on August 12, 2025. Hopefully, the two monsters get to meet each other while everyone else remains safe.
