Brandy and Monica had fine solo careers, with Brandy both succeeding as a musician and as an actor. However, when they joined forces things exploded for both of them. The two joined forces on the song "The Boy is Mine," and in the process gave the world one of the most-popular R&B songs of the 1990s.
However, Brandy and Monica never toured together. They didn't tour together off the strength of "The Boy is Mine," and they have never done the whole nostalgia tour thing...until now. All these years later, the two singers are still trying to determine whom has dibs on the titular boy.
First of all, we just learned who won "American Idol" in 2025. Congrats, Jamal Roberts! Also, former Destiny's Child member (and no solo-act slouch) Kelly Rowland is getting into the mix as well, which just adds more fodder to this R&B tour.
This is a lengthy tour, and the duo are playing at a series of sizable arenas throughout the country. It's a classic case of neither Monica nor Brandy being sufficiently notable to do arena shows at this point, but you get the "The Boy is Mine" duo together, and people are going to get hyped.
It's smart business, and it is notable that the duo are finally touring together for the first time. We do have one question, though. Like many one-hit wonders do, will Brandy and Monica both open and close their set with "The Boy is Mine?"
