Apple Studios is riding the wave of the success of "F1" in theaters. A new Apple movie is arriving soon, and the film in question is a based-on-a-true-story survival thriller. "The Lost Bus" stars Matthew McConaughey, America Ferrera, and a wildfire.
The film is based on a real event that occurred during the 2018 Camp Fire in Northern California. McConaughey plays a bus driver who volunteers to pick up a class of elementary school children (and their teacher, played by Ferrera) who have been stranded by the fire. So yeah, it's probably going to be pretty intense.
Beyond the trailer, and the story, the reason to think "The Lost Bus" will be intense is that it is directed by Paul Greengrass. Greengrass has directed three films in the Jason Bourne franchise, but he's also done some other ripped-from-the-headline thrillers including "Captain Phillips" and "United 93."
"The Lost Bus" is getting a more-traditional Apple movie release, though. It will have a limited theatrical engagement starting September 19, but it hits Apple TV+ on October 3. You know, kind of feels like a good at-home watch, so that's fair.
