On July 21, 2025, the Avatar official social media accounts, including X and TikTok, announced the release of the Avatar Fire and Ash trailer. And we don’t have long to wait. It’s coming this weekend.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps opens in theaters July 25, 2025. And, if you head to your local theaters for the latest Marvel film, you’ll be one of the first to see the debut Avatar Fire and Ash trailer, too. That comes with an asterisk since the trailer was first shown in April at CinemaCon. We already know that the trailer shows the return to Pandora’s lush landscapes. Two new tribes of Na’vi will be introduced: the Wind Traders, who fly using vehicles that are similar to hot air balloons, and the Fire People, who use flying beasts. The two tribes are rivals.
Avatar Fire and Ash takes place just after the end of Way of Water, where Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña), and their children meet the Metkayina water tribe and fight the humans of the Resources Development Administration. In Fire and Ash, they’ll have to face the Ash People, who have split off from Jake and Neytiri’s clan.
The cast also includes Giovanni Ribisi, Kate Winslet, Jemain Clement, Sigourney Weaver, David Thewlis, Stephen Lang, Oona Chaplin, and Edie Falco.
Avatar Fire and Ash will release in theaters on December 19, 2025. There are two more Avatar movies planned. Avatar 4 is expected to be released on December 21, 2029, and Avatar 5 on December 29, 2031. Wow, that looks like a long wait for the series to be completed!
If Fire and Ash can repeat the success of Avatar and Way of Water, the franchise will become the first with three movies that make over $2 billion. The first two movies are the number 1 and number 3 most successful movies, with over $2 billion made worldwide from each of them.
