The upcoming television show Boston Blue is the much-anticipated spinoff from the long-running Blue Bloods. The 14-season-long show was one of the top shows on TV, and viewers were stunned and saddened when it got canceled. Fortunately, we have a spinoff coming soon called Boston Blue with Donnie Wahlberg starring as Detective Danny Reagan. It looks as though Danny has moved to Boston to start the next chapter of his career.

Boston Blue’s Main Cast

So far, we have Donnie Wahlberg, of course, returning as the central character, Danny Reagan, Sonequa Martin-Green as Detective Lena Peters, Ernie Hudson as her grandfather, along with Gloria Reuben and Maggie Lawson. Lawson is best known as Juliet O’Hara from Psych. A recent addition to the cast is Marcus Scribner (Andre Jr. from Black-ish) as Officer Jonah Silver.

Potential Guest Stars from Blue Bloods

We miss Blue Bloods, and loyal fans have wanted to see what’s next for the Reagan family. While it’s still under wraps whether we will see any of Detective Danny‘s siblings, Donnie Wahlberg has teased that his onscreen father, Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck), may make an appearance. We would love to see the patriarch of the Reagan family. Well, the patriarch is just after Len Cariou’s Henry Reagan.

A highlight in the series finale of Blue Bloods was Danny asking his partner, Detective Baez (Marisa Ramirez), out for pizza. Maybe we’ll see Det. Ramirez come up to Boston for a get-together? One thing is for certain: Boston and New York aren’t really that far from each other, and characters are only a phone call away. Wahlberg reassured with his comments:

New York and Boston are really close. Blue Bloods is important to the audience, it’s important to me.

Any Word on Other Guest Stars for Boston Blue?

If we’re thinking about Boston in general, there have been many shows set in Beantown. We have Boston Legal, The Practice, and Rizzoli & Isles. (Imagine Jane Rizzoli and Danny Reagan on a case… the theories alone would be stellar!) Although it is doubtful Boston Blue will be set in the same universe as any of these, it would be kind of cool to see guest stars from these shows as well.

We definitely hope to see the likes of Frank, Erin, Jamie, and, of course, Danny’s kids make a visit to Boston. Meanwhile, if you want to see Donnie Wahlberg perform, he is singing with New Kids on the Block in late June and early July in Las Vegas.
