"Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy" star Leo Woodall is down to play James Bond

This year has shaped up quite nicely for 28-year-old actor Leo Woodall. Prior to this season you likely knew him from the second season of "The White Lotus," if you knew him at all.

In 2025, though, Woodall has starred in Apple TV+'s action-thriller show "Prime Target" and now has co-starred in "Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy." The latter has earned him the write-up treatment from Variety.

The profile largely focuses on Woodall's turn as Roxster McDuff, the latest love interest to make time with Renee Zellweger's Bridget Jones. "Mad About the Boy," the fourth movie in the series, changes things up a bit by having Bridget get romantically involved with a decidedly-younger man, in this case Roxster. Amidst all the rom-com chatter, a topic is broached that is probably soft launched with every handsome British actor who is viable for the role: James Bond.

When asked if he would be open to taking on the role of James Bond, Woodall first noted, "Every British actor’s getting that!" However, he did continue and say, "Yeah, I’d do Bond. I’d love to do something like that. It doesn’t need  to be saving the world, but I want to beat up some bad guys, you know?"

We as movie-going people have been sans a Bond for an atypical amount of time, and there are some fans out there who have actually only known a single Bond. Daniel Craig debuted as Bond in 2006's "Casino Royale" and owing to a lengthy run that was further stretched out by the COVID-19 pandemic, Craig was in the role until 2021's "No Time to Die." Still, that means no new Bond has been cast for years, leaving one of the most-successful, longest-running film franchises laying fallow.

Whether or not it will be Woodall remains to be seen. It maybe depends on if whether or not the pertinent producers are also mad about the boy.
