Claire Danes became an icon to a generation thanks to her starring role on ABC's "My So-Called Life." Though that show only lasted one season, it has been part of many a "brilliant-but-cancelled" or "one-season wonders" list since its run ended in 1995. Danes' turn as Angela Chase really connected with teenagers of the era, but the creator of "My So-Called Life" Winnie Holzman deserves some of the credit for that. Now, 30 years later, Danes and Holzman are re-teaming for HBO.
The show is called "The Applebaum Curse" and, well, that's about the long and the short of it for now. It's all in the early stages of development, so what is known is that the show has that title, it's for HBO, it's a drama, Danes is starring, and Holzman is running it. Of course, for many that's enough information to get hyped.
While Danes was a child actor, she has had a fine career as an adult as well, including winning two Emmys for Showtime's "Homeland."
Holzman has been no slouch, either, and is in fact having a moment. She wrote the book for a little musical by the name of "Wicked" and is the co-writer of both parts of the film adaptations of that stage play. There will probably be less singing witches in "The Applebaum Curse." Although...
