First trailer for 'Roadrunner: A Film About Anthony Bourdain' documentary released

Anthony Bourdain's spirit has lived on since his tragic death, and Roadrunner: A Film About Anthony Bourdain is tangible proof of that.
Thursday (June 3), Focus Features shared its first trailer for the upcoming documentary that will hit theaters July 16:

The trailer begins with a poignant message: "You're probably gonna find out about it anyway, so here's a little preemptive truth-telling. There's no happy ending." The acclaimed and beloved chef, author and documentarian died by suicide on June 8, 2018. He was 61 years old.

Bourdain was filming for his CNN series Parts Unknown in Paris when French chef and close friend Eric Ripert found Bourdain unresponsive in his hotel room, CNN relayed at the time.

Roadrunner comes from Focus Features, CNN Films and HBO Max. The official description is below:

"It’s not where you go. It’s what you leave behind ... Chef, writer, adventurer, provocateur: Anthony Bourdain lived his life unabashedly. Roadrunner: A Film About Anthony Bourdain is an intimate, behind-the-scenes look at how an anonymous chef became a world-renowned cultural icon. From Academy Award®-winning filmmaker Morgan Neville (20 Feet From StardomWon’t You Be My Neighbor?), this unflinching look at Bourdain reverberates with his presence, in his own voice and in the way he indelibly impacted the world around him."

The project was first announced back in October 2019.
