CBS axed a lot of its programming from this past TV season, and while "The Neighborhood" wasn't nixed, it was only because it has gotten one more season to wrap things up. One show that has survived and thrived, though, is "Ghosts." The sitcom, adapted from a British show, is entering its fifth season, and a sixth has already been ordered. That show is run by two Joes, Port and Wiseman, and CBS is hoping they can mine more well-worn supernatural territory. To that end, the Tiffany Network has ordered a sitcom pilot from Port and Wiseman about vampires.
The show is called "Eternally Yours" and it will focus on a vampiric couple who has been married for 500 years. Now, get this, their daughter is dating a human! Does "Eternally Yours" sound incredibly broad? You bet, but that is what CBS sitcoms are. They have premises like "What if a white guy lived next door to Cedric the Entertainer?" and "What if Sheldon was young?" "Ghosts" is, frankly, headier than most CBS fare.
Granted, this is just a pilot order, but CBS currently has four sitcoms scheduled to air this upcoming season, and one of those is the final season of "The Neighborhood." It wouldn't be surprising if "Eternally Yours" gets ordered to series. While it may just take a staid comedic premise and add vampires to it, that's not a dealbreaker for CBS audiences.
