With the Heartstopper movie officially in production, fans are excited and eagerly awaiting new teasers about what exactly they can expect when it comes to the conclusion of Nick and Charlie's love story.
Well, Joe Locke, who stars as Charlie and will serve as an executive producer, is offering a hint at its tone. "It is grown up more, but it's still Heartstopper. I think we're trying to really make it as cinematic as possible and finish the story in a nice way," he expressed to BuzzFeed Celeb.
Nick and Charlie are inseparable, but with Nick preparing to leave for university and Charlie finding new independence at school, the reality of a long-distance relationship begins to weigh on them. Doubts take hold, and their relationship faces its biggest challenge yet. Meanwhile, their friends are also navigating the ups and downs of love and friendship, confronting the bittersweet challenges of growing up and moving on. Can first loves really last forever?
The feature film will be based on Alice Oseman's unreleased sixth and final graphic novel. Wash Westmoreland will direct, and other executive producers include Patrick Walters, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, Oseman, and Euros Lyn. See-Saw Films will serve as the production company.
Locke also recently starred in Agatha All Along as Billy Kaplan/Wiccan, Wanda Maximoff's son. While, as of now, there are no plans for a second season, it is expected that the actor will eventually return for future projects in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
So, who would he like to see his character interact with first? "I think Billy and Loki would get on really well, both slightly mischievous in certain ways," he commented.
All episodes of Agatha All Along are streaming on Peacock. All seasons of Heartstopper are available on Netflix.
