Dolly Parton is not a laurel rester to be sure. She recently appeared on a new version of a Motley Crue track for charity, a musical based on her life is debuting in Nashville soon and then heading to Broadway, and as we noted when discussing the Crue track, she has a line of food products so you can buy a frozen shrimp and grits meal from her. We're mentioning it again because it's delightful and absurd.
As such, when we say that Dolly is doing a six-concert quasi-residency in Las Vegas, you might surmise it's notable, but not remarkable. However, it actually is quite remarkable, because other than a few one-off concerts, Dolly hasn't done a consistent run of live performances since 2016.
"Dolly: Live in Las Vegas" (not the most-inventive name) will see the music icon perform six concerts at Caesar's Palace between December 4 and December 13. Tickets are going on sale on June 25 and one assumes they are going to be a hot commodity.
"To say I’m excited would be an understatement. I haven’t worked Vegas in years and I’ve always loved singing there," said Parton. Apparently in the early '90s, Parton did roughly 50 concerts over a few years at The Mirage.
Vegas and legacy act Dolly go hand-in-hand, but it is remarkable that this has gotten Dolly back out there semi-properly for the first time in almost a decade. Oh, and don't worry, Dolly will be playing the hits.
