These days, Kelly Clarkson is primarily the host of a daytime talk show. However, she famously got her start as a singer as the first winner of "American Idol," perhaps to this day, the most-significant moment in reality television. Then they asked her to star in a movie and it was a disaster. Fortunately, just being herself on TV has worked better.
Clarkson was supposed to kick off a residency at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas on the Fourth of July, a big event to be sure. However, just hours before the concert was to kick off, it was announced the show was being postponed, and so was the show scheduled for July 5.
As her note to fans indicated, the issue is that Clarkson's voice gave out during preparation for her 18-show residency. That, obviously, stinks for the fans, especially since many of the people with tickets were surely there on vacation. However, it's also entirely reasonable even if it is unfortunate. If a singer can't sing, they can't perform. It's like getting tickets to, say, see the Lakers come to town and then LeBron gets hurt and can't play. Players get hurt, and singers get hurt in their own way.
For all those with tickets to future shows during Clarkson's residency, hopefully she heals up and the rest of the shows go off without a hitch.
